Clearing The Fog on Age Friendly Employment

To celebrate International Day of Older People, the IoH has teamed up with the Centre for Ageing Better to help the hospitality industry not miss out on the benefits of employing older workers.

The job market is changing, and employers are facing enormous challenges. There are skills and labour shortages, with vacancy rates at record highs. Workers in their 50s and 60s are crucial to filling these gaps. Yet employers in the hospitality sector are missing out on all that older workers can offer, with only 20.5% aged 50 or over. With an average age of 35, the industry is not benefiting from the innovation and productivity of a multi-generational workforce.
