Food Allergy Prosecution – Mock Trial – Sentencing Hearing

In the current climate, Face to face events are limited. With this in mind, Food Allergy Aware have made the decision to take their Mock Trial Food Allergy Prosecution event online.

Working with McCullough Moore to bring the event alive online with interaction and informative discussions. The audience will be the jury and there is an opportunity for you to deliberate as a jury to decide on the sentencing of the defendant.

This event, presented by Food Allergy Aware & Blake Morgan LLP, will explore a fictional scenario of produce being served that has had the allergens incorrectly labelled.

The legal responsibilities of each entity involved in the supply chain of food will be examined as well as the concept of due diligence within the industry and product recall.

Everyone involved in a food business has a legal responsibility to ensure that the products they supply are correctly described and safe to consume. The costs of getting it wrong are high. Failure to control risks in food safety can result in a criminal prosecution – regardless of whether any harm has been caused or not.

Food Allergy Aware will have a Judge, defence, and prosecution legal team you the audience will be the jury setting the sentence in an interactive session.

Speakers include:

Ruth Holyroyd from WhatAllergy will speak of her experiences as someone personally involved in a court case where she had a reaction to being served milk, and the establishment responsible were prosecuted and fined £23,000

Case studies – from Nando’s and Centre Parcs – How to get it right!

NEW speaker ALERT – Food Standards Agency  – Natasha’s law – What it means for hospitality!

Cressida Langlands – talking about the FreeFrom market and where we are today.
