Ronald Kinton, a former student of Westminster Kingsway College and co-author of Practical Cookery and The Theory of Catering, celebrated his 100th birthday in January 2021.
Ronald and his fellow co-authors realised there was a need for a dedicated cookery book for catering students. Writing everything in longhand, they produced the first of ten editions of ‘Practical Cookery’ followed by ‘The Theory of Catering’ which are still used by catering students throughout the world.
In recognition of his massive contribution to catering education, Westminster Kingsway College and the Institute of Hospitality are launching the ‘Ronald Kinton Anniversary Lecture’, an annual event featuring inspirational speakers who are alumni of Westminster Kingsway College’s Hospitality and Culinary Arts programmes.
This year’s event will be held online from 3-5pm GMT on Wednesday 28 April. The speakers are:
- Wendy Bartlett MBE FIH, Founder at Bartlett Mitchell
- Frederick Foster, Head Chef at Le Pont de la Tour
- Sal Gowili FIH, General Manager at The Ritz London
- John Williams, Executive Chef at The Ritz London
